Alexisonfire was a 5 piece band based out of St. Catharine's Ontario that formed in early 2001. They have been quite successful producing a total of 4 studio albums, and ideas of a 5th in the works. Unfortunately, early this year, the band had announced they would seize recording and broke up. Regardless of the note lead singer George posted on their website, rumors are flying about their break-up. It had been said that Dallas Green, back up vocalist and guitar, wanted to focus and pursue his side project, City & Colour. ( Christine has already done a great job of discussing City & Colour, so I've hyperlinked her post for your reading pleasure). Wade had stated that he had intentions of joining another band, and the rest of the members had personal issues that needed to be overcome. Hearing about this break-up was quite devastating for me. This has been my favorite band for quite some time. I'm incredibly lucky that I have seen Alexisonfire twice, and City & Colour once this past month.
The combination of Georges more harsh vocals, and Dallas' harmonic one, creates perfection. That is one of the many reasons I adore them so much. This could be anywhere in the world was one of the first songs I listened to on repeat until Crisis came out in 2006. You know when teens are in their "teen angst" phase? Yeah, this is the soundtrack to my teens, and still is. If you haven't given these guys a listen, I highly suggest it. Even my parents like the more mellow songs!
A few to check out,
Sidewalk when she walks
Rough Hands
Happiness by the Kilowatt
This could be anywhere in the world
No transitory
Boiled Frogs, Dallas has an unreal acoustic version of this as well.
