Foster the people : Artist of the week




Foster the People is an American indie pop band formed in Los Angeles in 2009.

The group is composed of :

 Mark Foster : vocals, keyboards, piano, synthesizers, guitar, programming, percussion
 Cubbie Fink : bass and backing vocals
  Mark Pontius : drums and extra percussion

 Foster founded the band in 2009 after spending several years in Los Angeles as a struggling musican . After Foster's song "Pumped Up Kicks" became a viral success in 2010, the group was signed to Columbia Records and gained a fanbase through small club shows and appearances at the music festivals such as  Coachella and South by Southwest





After releasing their debut album Torches in May 2011, "Pumped Up Kicks" became a  hit on commercial radio in mid-2011, reaching number one on Billboard's Alternative Songs chart, number three on the Rock Songs chart, and number three on the Billboard Hot 100, while charting on the Adult Top 40 and Mainstream Top 40 charts.


over all the band  has hit major sucess in the past few years and has developed a strong base of fans.
i can easily say that in the next few years we will be seeing alot more to come from there boys

  1. This is interesting. I really liked that song "Pumped Up Kicks" when it came out and I wondered if the artist had any other hit but never heard any! I will have to go check if there are any other good song by this band. Do you know of any other good songs that I should listen to? I like the video too!

  2. I love Foster the People. I think their hit song Pumped Up Kicks had such a retro sound that that's the reason it became such a hit. It just wasn't as mainstream as the rest of the music being put out there. Except that now, since it has become such a hit on the maintstream charts, its becoming a little old and overplayed, but I still sing along, and can't wait to hear more out of them :)
